Child Claims*

If you are under 18 years old, you are not allowed to make an injury claim* to the Injuries Board in your own name or to issue proceedings. Injury claims on behalf of children must be brought by their next friend, who is usually a parent or guardian. Child injury claims can be traumatic for the parents or next friend however this will be to some extent lessened by the care and support we provide.

We have successfully represented hundreds of people who have taken a personal injury* claim on behalf of a child. If your child’s claim is successful, the compensation will be lodged with the courts who will manage the funds until your child turns 18. At that stage, your child can apply for the release of the compensation to them.
