A carpenter who was seriously injured at work when he feel eight feet from a mobile scaffold has settled his personal injury* claim in the High Court for €700,000 compensation.
The man was in a coma for three weeks after the accident at work which occurred at a construction site in County Meath. The man sued the site’s main contractors and also his employers as a result of the accident which happened in June 2007.
It was claimed that the mobile scaffold which the man was working on at the time of the accident, overturned as a result of the negligence of the defendants. The Judge of the High Court was told that the man suffered serious injuries including brain trauma as a result of the accident and that it was unlikely that he would ever be able to work again. Justice Mary Irvine in approving the settlement said it was a distressing and sad case.
