Local Property tax returns must be filed online by midnight tonight. The Revenue estimate that over 500,000 homeowners have yet to register for the property tax. Over 1.1 million of the 1.6 million eligible households have registered so far with up to €22 million in up front payments made to the end of April.
The Revenue Commissioners are requesting people to file their return online by logging onto http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/lpt/. Those who do not wish to pay online can file by telephoning 1890 200 255 and transfer the funds by cheque made payable to the Collector General. You can also by cash at any Post Office or Payzone outlet or at Omnivend self-service kiosks in locations throughout the country.
The Revenue Commissioners have warned people that they are still liable for the tax even if they haven't received a return form from them.
