A woman who fell in an RTÉ studio as she was about to do a weigh-in as a contestant in the Operation Transformation dieting programme has settled her High Court action over the accident which resulted in her suffering personal injuries*.
The woman sued RTÉ and the Belfast-based company Green Inc Film and Television Ltd, producers of the Afternoon Show. The woman claimed that she had fractured her elbow and injured her lower back, suffered depression and anxiety, as well as loss of earnings, as a result of the defendants’ negligence in failing to maintain a ramp covering electrical cables which she tripped over in the Donnybrook studio. The woman also claimed that she had to give up her arts and crafts business as she claimed she was unable to work as a result of the injuries she suffered. The woman fractured her elbow and injured her lower back.
The woman sought compensation for the injuries she had suffered as well as €49,000 for loss of earnings and €63,500 in special damages. The woman settled her action against the defendants.
